When a foundation starts to crumble, everything built on top of it becomes unstable. Walls crack. Floors shift. Doors no longer close the way they should. What once felt safe begins to feel uncertain.
The same thing happens in life. When truth is ignored, when fairness is pushed aside, and when people stop caring about what is right, the foundation begins to crack. What follows is often upheaval, chaos, and destruction. People become confused. Trust breaks down. Fear rises. Everyone feels the shaking, even if they do not understand where it started.
But God’s kingdom is different. Psalm 89:14 says, “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Mercy and truth go before You.” In simple words, God does not build His rule on lies, selfishness, pride, or confusion. His throne stands on what is right and what is just. Mercy and truth lead the way.
The more we know God’s works, the more we see that He is worthy to be praised. There is no one like Him. He is powerful, holy, faithful, and good. When we worship Him, we should come with reverence, humility, and thankfulness. Yet many times, our hearts grow casual, distracted, or proud. This should cause us to humble ourselves and return to Him with sincerity.
God’s power is not weak. The same almighty power that struck Egypt and delivered His people is still able to scatter the enemies of His church. Those who trust in His mercy will rejoice in His name, because mercy and truth guide all that He does.
Justice and judgment are the foundation of God’s throne. The word speaks of a place where something stands, a firm base. This means God’s rule is supported by what is right. His ways are not held up by injustice or wrong. Even great power cannot hold up a throne built on evil forever. Sooner or later, injustice makes its own ruin certain.
Mercy and truth go before God’s face. Wherever God makes Himself known, mercy and faithfulness are there. His way through the world is marked by kindness, truth, and justice. He does not need darkness to defend His throne. He does not need lies to accomplish His will.
Psalm 89 reminds us that no one compares to the Lord. “Who in the skies is comparable to the Lord?” Who is mighty like Him? The heavens belong to Him. The earth belongs to Him. The world and everything in it was established by Him.
That means when everything around us seems to be shaking, God is not shaken. When systems fail, God remains faithful. When people are confused, God still stands in truth. When injustice seems loud, God’s justice is still stronger. His foundation does not crack, shift, or fall apart.
So the question is not only, “What is crumbling around us?” The deeper question is, “What foundation are we building on?” If we build on pride, opinions, fear, or selfishness, the cracks will eventually show. But if we build on God’s righteousness, justice, mercy, and truth, we are standing on something that cannot be destroyed.
In a world filled with upheaval, chaos, and destruction, we need more than quick fixes. We need the right foundation. God’s throne is built on justice and righteousness, and His mercy and truth still go before Him. If everything else is shaking, let us return to the One who remains steady forever.
