Life has many seasons. Some bring joy and growth. Others bring sorrow, waiting, or change. Like spring, summer, fall, and winter, each season of our spiritual lives can teach us something.
A new season may bring changes in our relationships, responsibilities, or the way we serve God. We may not understand what is happening, but we can trust Him through it.
Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Our lives may change, but God remains faithful.
Instead of asking only, “What season am I in?” we can ask, “Lord, what are You teaching me, and how can I follow You today?”
1. Notice When a Season Changes
Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that there is a season and a time for every purpose.
Change can feel uncomfortable. We often want to stay with what we know. But sometimes growth means taking a step into something new.
Abraham had to leave familiar surroundings and trust God to lead him. We may also need to leave behind old habits, attitudes, or expectations.
Still, not every problem or closed door means God is asking us to move. Pray, read Scripture, and seek wise advice. Be thankful for yesterday, but stay open to what God may be teaching you today.
2. Let Go of What Holds You Back
In Philippians 3:13–14, Paul speaks about reaching forward rather than being held back by the past.
We can learn from yesterday without letting it control tomorrow. Letting go does not mean pretending that hurt never happened. It means bringing our pain, regret, and fear to God instead of letting them guide every choice.
Ask yourself: “What am I holding on to? Is there bitterness I need to release, a habit I need to change, or a fear I need to bring to God?”
Moving forward may take time. Take one faithful step at a time, trusting God to help you.
3. Be Faithful While You Prepare
Before David became king, he cared for his father’s sheep. His ordinary work was part of his preparation.
Your present season may seem quiet or unnoticed. Yet it can be a time to learn patience, grow in kindness, and become more faithful in small responsibilities.
Luke 16:10 teaches the importance of being faithful in small things. Do not judge your growth only by what others can see. Learning to pray, serve, and obey matters too.
Do not rush past the lessons of today because you are eager for tomorrow.
4. Remember That Hard Times Do Not Mean God Is Absent
Joseph faced betrayal, slavery, and prison. Yet the story in Genesis 39 reminds us that the Lord was with him.
A difficult season does not automatically mean you have failed or that God has left you. You can be honest with Him about your sadness, questions, and fears.
Romans 8:28 reminds us that God can work for good through painful circumstances. This does not mean every event is good or that every question will be answered right away.
Keep praying, and reach out for support when you need it. Trusting God does not mean you have to face hardship alone.
5. Prepare Your Heart for the Next Step
Before the people of Israel crossed the Jordan River, Joshua called them to prepare themselves. A new season calls for more than excitement. It calls for faith and readiness.
Pray, read God’s Word, and ask for wisdom. James 1:5 encourages us to ask God when we need wisdom.
Waiting does not mean doing nothing. You can serve, learn, care for your responsibilities, and grow while you wait.
Do not force a door open just because you want a change. Consider new opportunities carefully, seek wise counsel, and take the next step with prayer.
Trust God in Every Season
If you are waiting, do not lose heart. If you are preparing, keep learning. If you are facing change, ask God for wisdom and courage.
We may not understand every season, but we can trust God through each one. Thank Him for the past, remain faithful in the present, and place the future in His hands.
Isaiah 40:31 reminds us that those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength.
Your season may change. Your circumstances may change. But God’s faithfulness never changes.
A Prayer for Every Season
Father, forgive us for the times we struggle to trust You. Help us recognize what You are teaching us today. Give us patience while we wait, strength when life is hard, and courage when it is time to move forward. Help us let go of what holds us back and remain faithful where we are. Keep our hearts open to Your guidance. Thank You for being with us in every season. In Jesus’ name, amen.
