How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
–Psalm 119:103
We all need natural food – fruit (apples, oranges), lean meat and poultry, fish, eggs, grains (cereal, wholegrain), and ,milk, yogurt, etc to provide the necessary nutritional requirements essential for good health. When we do not eat, our body begins to feel weak, and we know immediately that we need to eat some food.
Just as we need natural food, we need the spiritual food God provides to sustain us spiritually. When we do not have what we need from Him spiritually, we will become weak spiritually just as we become physically when we lack food. As a result, our souls can wither away for lack of nourishment.
We cannot go from Sunday to Sunday only spending time with God once per week. We must spend time with Him daily in prayer, studying and meditating on His Word. We must feed daily on God’s Word, to stay spiritually healthy. But if we neglect it, we may lose all desire to study the Scriptures. In fact, we may be starving ourselves.
Are you hungry for an encounter with God? How much time do you spend reading the Bible and meditating on its truths?
The good news is that we don’t have to wait for Sunday, or some other special day, to encounter God. We can encounter God anywhere, anyplace, anytime. All it takes is being desperate for His presence.
God desires to satisfy your innermost being with His Presence and His Word, but He can only do so as you hunger for and seek after Him (Jeremiah 29:13, Luke 11:9-13). In Psalm 119:169-176, the psalmist desired to know more of God and His Word. He cried out to God for understanding of His Word.
Isaiah 55:6 says, “Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.” Friends, it’s time to wake up. Don’t wait any longer. Seize what God has for you now!
Blessings!
