Knowing God (Part 4)

In part 3, I wrote about how God is a good Creator who brought order out of chaos.  He creates good things and delights in them. What an opportune time to get to know him as Creator. We were created to reflect his goodness in the earth.

God’s character is revealed in His relationship with humanity. He has revealed His character to His people through His interactions with them throughout history.  The first chapter of Genesis tells us that the Lord God is the creator of heave and earth (Gen. 1:1-25). Isaiah 45:18 says, “…he who created the heavens, he is God;
he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty,
but formed it to be inhabited—he says:“I am the Lordand there is no other.”  Everything God created is good (1 Tim. 4:4).

There is no being greater than God.  He answers to no one but Himself. He is the ultimate reality, ultimate truth. He cannot do what is contrary to His nature. He does not need for His own existence (Isa. 44:24, Isa. 66:2).

When Moses met the Lord God at the burning bush, he asks God what he should say to the Israelites if they ask him for the name of the God who sent him to them. The Lord God said tell them, “I am who I am. ‘I am has sent me to you.’”  (Exodus 3:13-14)

There is nothing or no one to compare God with. He is the “Great I AM.”
