A recent article in reference to the movie “Unplanned” caught my attention early this morning. I have yet to see the movie, but was extremely disturbed by comedian Samantha Bee’s commentary making fun of the movie during her show. I did take time to view the shows trailer it wasn’t funny.
In a Fox News article the author wrote “Full Frontal” host Samantha Bee blasted the newly released pro-life film “Unplanned,” [1]
”Bee began her show Wednesday night by calling “Unplanned” an “anti-choice propaganda movie” and noted its “not awful” showing at the box office, where it earned more than $6 million and placed fourth behind blockbusters “Dumbo,” “Us,” and “Captain Marvel.”
“It’s obviously ridiculous and no one should see it, but the trailer is honestly wonderful,” Bee sarcastically told her audience.
When I saw this I immediately thought to myself the Lord laughs at fools. Abortion is not a joke nor anything to make fun of.
Whenever I sense something is being impressed upon my spirit I immediately search for truth on the matter. Proverbs 14:9 says, “Fools make fun of sinfulness. but the godly acknowledge it and seek reconciliation.” Only fools make fun of sinfulness out of ignorance of the truth.
The purpose of the Book of Proverbs is to “teach people wisdom and discipline, to help them understand the insights of the wise. To also teach people to live disciplined and successful lives, and help them do what is right, just, and fair. These proverbs will give insight to the simple, knowledge and discernment to the young (Prov. 1:1-4).
Wisdom cries out in the public square saying, “How long, you simpletons, will you insist on being simpleminded? How long will you mockers relish your mocking? How long will you fools hate knowledge? Come and listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise.”
I called you so often, but you wouldn’t come. I reached out to you, but you paid no attention. You ignored my advice and rejected the correction I offered.
So I will laugh when you are in trouble! I will mock you when disaster overtakes you–when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster engulfs you like a cyclone, and anguish and distress overwhelm you.
When they cry for help, I will not answer. Though they anxiously search for me, they will not find me. For they hated knowledge and chose not to fear the LORD. They rejected my advice and paid no attention when I corrected them. Therefore, they must eat the bitter fruit of living their own way, choking on their own schemes.
For simpletons turn away from me—to death. Fools are destroyed by their own complacency. But all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.” (Proverbs 1:20-33)
Wisdom is crying out daily. Are we listening?
We live in a time in which we need godly wisdom to guide this nation and its people, helping us to understand God’s justice and righteousness, and those things which concern Him. Godly wisdom is needed to help us live disciplined and successful lives, and to help us do what is right, just, and fair.
God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. He has committed to the church the message of reconciliation to reach a lost, dying world with His message of love and forgiveness. We are Christ’s ambassadors. He is making His appeal through us imploring people on His behalf to be reconciled to God (2 Cor. 5:18-20).
The Lord is just and His presence brings justice into ungodly situations. God loves us; He judges differently than some of us might think. When He judges sin, He releases forgiveness and calls us lovingly into repentance. When God judges a backslidden nation, I believe He releases His mercy and a loving nudge to cry out and plea for His divine mercy. He also releases a prophet to call the nation to repentance.
What appears as “anti-choice propaganda” is an opportunity for this nation and it’s people to reverse course and change direction. God longs to share His heart with us. He loves His creation and is at work reconciling mankind to Himself because of His unfailing love.
Let the church arise and shine light into the darkness.!
