The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age
As Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” Matt. 24:3
Jesus answered the disciples and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. Matt. 24:4-8
Matthew Chapters 23 and 24 are rich with insight into the times we are living in. Some of this I’ve shared in previous blog posts: The Church Awakening: Warnings We Dare Not Continue To Ignore Part 1, The Church Awakening: Warnings We Dare Not Continue To Ignore Part 2, The Church Awakening: Warnings We Dare Not Continue To Ignore Part 3,
Watershed: a crucial dividing point, line, or factor; an event or period marking a turning point in a course of action or state of affairs.
I’m not writing as one who knows when the time of the end will come. I’m just someone who seeks to understand what God and the prophets of old saw beforehand and warned the church about. I do believe we are living in a watershed moment in church history. We can see an uptick of evil arising in many nations, as well as nations rising against nation. Today we’re witnessing evil and persecution on a worldwide level encompassing every nation. What God and the prophets saw and revealed through the Holy Spirit is happening before our very eyes.
Just in the last few weeks there have mass shootings in several American states. Political upheaval and divisiveness is off the charts. Hunger, poverty, earthquakes, moral decline, impeachment hearings, liberal governments and churches, and powerless churches. Fighting between Israel and Gaza. Last week, Israel once again faced a barrage of rockets from Gaza. Until the return of Jesus, the only hope for the world I believe is revival. I encourage you to pray for a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit on all people and every nation.
We must realize the coming of Jesus is imminent. I challenge you to open your heart to the Word of God and your eyes to what is happening in the world. Although we are not to love the world (1 John 2:15), nor be conform to the the pattern of this world, God would not have us ignorant. We cognizant of what is taking place so that we know how to posture ourselves during this significant time in church history.
The atmosphere has been lining up spiritually, morally, politically, and economically in every way. Don’t let your heart fail for fear of what is coming upon the earth. Instead, look up in faith and anticipation because “your redemption draws near.”
“When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” Luke 21:28
May God speak to you mightily through this series of posts.
