The Urgency of Discernment in the Last Days

And this is my prayer, that your love may overflow more and more with knowledge and full insight to help you to determine what really matters, so that in the day of Christ you may be pure and blameless, having produced the harvest of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ for the glory and praise of God. (Phil. 1:9-11)

A Time to Discern and Position

Apostle Paul took time to pray for the people; he prayed that they live full lives in Christ. He also prayed that they be full of love and discernment. He wanted them to be faithful in their daily walk. He hoped that they would bear fruit in Christian service. This was a prayer for Christian maturity.

Wisdom and discernment will be key in this new era of the church. What we believe should line up with the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. To progress in this new era, we must re-evaluate our beliefs. We need to make sure they align with God’s plumb line of righteousness.

And the LORD asked me, “What do you see, Amos?” “A plumb line,” I replied. Then the Lord said, “Look, I am setting a plumb line among my people Israel; I will spare them no longer.” Amos 7:8

Some of our deeply established beliefs aren’t true. We believe they are because of how long we have held on to them. ~Dr. Mark Chironna

We must be capable of discerning between the precious and the profane. What’s true and what’s false. The only way we can do this is if we are discerning what’s happening around us.

Moreover, they shall teach My people the difference between the holy and the profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean..” Ezekiel 44:23 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

In 1 John 4:1 we are warned not to “believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

As the Apostle Paul prayed in Philippians 1:9-10, our love must increase in this new season. It’s imperative that we as Christ’s Church abound more and more in revelation and insight in all things. This will allow us to choose wisely in the days ahead.

The phrase “I would not have you ignorant”  is used several times in Scripture (1 Cor. 10:1; 12:1; 1 Thess. 4:13). What Paul is saying is, “I know you’re ignorant about this subject, but you don’t have to be.”

The number one weapon Satan is deploying in these last days is deception. The Book of Revelation describes Satan’s activity as one “who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.” Deceiving “the nations in the four corners of the earth.” (Revelation 12:9; 20:8)

The gift of discerning of spirits is so needed in the body of Christ. We must learn to distinguish the voice of God from the counterfeit. ‪We must be capable of discerning what is true or false. What is real or counterfeit.‬

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” (John 4:1)

We must realize the coming of Christ is imminent and act suitably

May God speak to you mightily through this series of messages.
