“But instead we will remain strong and always sincere in our love as we express the truth. As Christians, we are instructed to “speak the truth in love”. Ephesians 4:15 (TPT)
Let me first state that I’m neither, Democrat nor Republican. I am a lover of Jesus and all that He stood during His time here on earth. I do consider myself to be conservative in my beliefs as long as they line up with God’s Truth.
God is not willing that any should perish. (2 Peter 3:9) He has not withdrawn His hand from human affairs. He’s been actively shifting people into their place to accomplish His divine purposes on earth. There are special seasons appointed by God for His intervention in human history. During these times God always calls His people to come up higher. We are living in such a time!
It is time for the facade of corrupt governing systems and religious hypocrisy of our day to be exposed. –Faisal Malick, The Political Spirit, 2008
I’ve been observing for the past three years, the growing divide among Evangelical Christians in relationship to their support for President Trump. What we are seeing today is certainly unprecedented, and only those who understand the true nature of today’s turmoil will be equipped to successfully deal with it.
For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12
The conservative Christian right’s support has been relentless even though the President’s behavior has been less than stellar. It is hard to open your news-feed today and not read a story about the President. This post is not about the his behavior, impeachment, nor whether the church should or should not be supporting him, but it’s more about how we as Christians should respond as the “salt of the earth” and the “light of the world” in relationship to others. It’s a call out to the people of God to do better.
I believe Romans 13:11 is speaking to the church today:
And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.
Much of the church has been asleep. My desire is that through this series of posts you will come to know the ways of God, what is right and just during these turbulent times. This is a season when we must walk in a new level of discernment and alignment with God’s plan.
We must understand the signs of our times. God has dropped a plumb line into the midst of the church and is calling His people to a higher standard so that they can walk in greater power and authority. God’s plumb line is righteousness. It’s a time of choosing who you will believe and who you will follow. The Kingdom of God is close at hand!
The plumb line was God’s standard by which the people of Israel would be measured. If they did not line up with this standard, they would be punished. Amos could not argue with God over this point. The condition of the people was unmistakable. (Amos 7:1-9)
Thus He showed me, and behold, the Lord was standing by a vertical wall with a plumb line in His hand. The Lord said to me, ‘What do you see, Amos?’ And I said, ‘A plumb line.’ Then the Lord said, ‘Behold I am about to put a plumb line in the midst of My people Israel. I will spare them no longer. The high places of Isaac will be desolated and the sanctuaries of Israel laid waste. Then I will rise up against the house of Jeroboam with the sword” (Amos 7:7-9).
The church will not be able to make a successful transition into this new era if they are not in alignment with God’s plumb line. Read Speaking The Truth In Love Part 2
