In this world, you will be plagued with times of trouble, but you need not fear; I have triumphed over this corrupt world order..” (John 16:33 The Voice) The Lord is Sovereign God is a Spirit, infinite, holy, eternal and unchangeable in His being, power, holiness, wisdom, justice, goodness, and truth. He is a just God who desires justice for all people. Justice  along with righteousness are two of the most important themes of the Bible. The intertwining of religion and politics, is not just about the restoration of prayer in public schools, abortion rights, installation of conservative Supreme Court justices, or protecting our country and the liberties we enjoy if those freedoms do not extend to all. It should also include the principles of fairness, equity, and just relations between God, the individual and society. God’s passion for justice is the basis for standing against injustices and for the vision of the Kingdom of God. He is holy. righteous and just. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne; love and faithfulness goes before Him. –Psalm 89:14 In the midst of COVID-19, political divisions, racial injustices and protesting police brutality, its’s no wonder so many people are discontented, yet the people of God  can have peace knowing that He is sovereign over all things. Those who know God will have great contentment and peace in God. His peace surpasses all understanding. His peace will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. —Philippians 4:7 The history of the people of Israel from Moses to Malachi demonstrates the truth that there is only one true God who is the sovereign ruler of the universe. The world belongs to Him because He made and ordered it. He is a good God, but He is also a just and holy God who cannot tolerate human wickedness indefinitely, because of the moral corruption it causes to His world and the pain it causes Him. —Genesis 6:6 The Lord’s sovereignty is universal. He reigns among the nations. He reigns forever! God has established His throne for judgment, and He rules the world in righteousness and judges the people with fairness. He is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know His name trust in Him because He has never forsaken those who seek Him. —Psalm 9:7-10; 96:10
Those who know God have great thoughts of God. —J. I. Packer, Knowing God
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.” —Isaiah 40:28 Consider just a few of the claims the Bible makes about God:
  • God is above all things and before all things. He is the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. He is immortal, and He is present everywhere so that everyone can know Him. –Revelation 21:6
  • God created all things and holds all things together, both in heaven and on earth, both visible and invisible. –Colossians 1:16
  • God knows all things past, present, and future. There is no limit to His knowledge, for God knows everything completely before it even happens –Romans 11:33
  • God can do all things and accomplish all things. Nothing is too difficult for Him, and He orchestrates and determines everything that is going to happen in your life, in my life, in America, and throughout the world. Whatever He wants to do in the universe, He does, for nothing is impossible with Him. –Jeremiah 32:17
  • God is in control of all things and rules over all things. He has power and authority over nature, earthly kings, history, angels, and demons. Even Satan himself has to ask God’s permission before he can act. –Psalm 103:19
While we may all criticize injustice in our society, they continue to remain tolerable. Albeit, government plays a role is establishing a just society, government is limited. A just society also requires that individuals and groups within society act justly. The Lord requires that His children do justice and love kindness, and to walk humbly with Him. —Micah 6:8 In this time of great shaking and chaos, I implore you to return to the Lord. In Isaiah 30:15 the Sovereign LORD says, “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength,” God promises and purposes to carry His plan of redemption through to completion, executed by His sovereign power nothing can thwart it. Though the earth may be shaking God is in control. May the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. –Philippians 4:7 In His Service, Minister Dr. A.
