What Does It Mean to Be a True Christian?
At its core, being a true Christian means doing your best to follow everything God has said He wants us to do. That includes loving God, loving Jesus, loving your neighbor—even loving your enemies. These aren’t just nice words; they are actions we’re called to live out every day, no matter what’s happening around us.
Why Is It Harder Now?
Jesus warned us that as evil increases in the world, people’s love for each other can grow cold. That means as we see more bad things happening, it’s easy to become discouraged, angry, or stop caring about others. But Jesus also said that those who keep going and don’t give up—who persevere to the end—will be saved.
What Did Jesus Tell His Disciples?
The disciples wanted to know when big events would happen—like the end of the world or the destruction of Jerusalem. Jesus didn’t give them a calendar date. Instead, He focused on what signs to look for and, more importantly, how they should act. He wanted them to be careful, to pray, to trust God, and not to let their hearts be troubled, even when tough times came.
Staying Strong Amid Trouble
Jesus told His followers to be on guard against false teachers and not to be shaken by wars or chaos. When people reject God’s message, trouble often follows. But for those who trust in God, there is peace—even when things get hard. Jesus emphasized prayer, especially during distress, and reminded His disciples that God is in control, shortening hard times for His people.
Spreading the Gospel: Our Purpose
Jesus said the gospel—the good news about God’s love and salvation—would be preached all over the world before the end comes. That means the world won’t end until God’s message has reached everyone it’s meant to reach. It’s comforting to know that some will endure to the end, and that God has a plan, even in times of suffering.
How Should We Respond?
· Keep Loving: Don’t let the world’s evil make you bitter. Hold onto love for God, Jesus, your neighbors, and even those who hurt you.
· Pray Often: Prayer is a lifeline, especially in tough times. Stay connected to God.
· Stay Alert: Watch out for false teachings or anything that leads you away from Jesus’ message.
· Trust God: Even when it feels like everything is falling apart, remember God is in control and has set limits to suffering.
· Share the Good News: The gospel is meant for everyone. Help spread God’s message of hope and love.
Final Thoughts
Jesus’ words weren’t just meant to satisfy curiosity about the future. They were meant to prepare us, encourage us, and help us live wisely. We may face hard times, but if we stay faithful, keep loving, and keep trusting God, we’ll find comfort and hope—no matter what happens.
