A simple, bold call to make Jesus known by what you say, how you live, and who you trust.
To be Christ’s witness in the world today means more than wearing a label or posting a verse online. It means your life, your words, and your choices point people to Jesus. God said, “You are my witnesses” (Isaiah 43:10), and Jesus repeated that calling when He told His followers, “You will be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8). In other words, Christians are meant to make Christ known—clearly, boldly, and faithfully.
1. A Witness Speaks the Truth About Jesus
A witness tells the truth about who Christ is. Isaiah 43:10 says, “You are my witnesses,” and that calling is rooted in knowing and believing God. Today, that means we do not stay silent about Jesus. We say plainly that He is Lord, that He saves, and that there is no hope apart from Him. Paul wrote, “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors” (2 Corinthians 5:20). A faithful witness does not soften the truth to fit the times.
2. A Witness Shares What Christ Has Done
You do not need a stage to be a witness. If Christ has forgiven you, lifted you, corrected you, or carried you, then you have something real to say. A witness simply tells the truth about what God has done. The apostles said, “We cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20). That is the heart of witness: not showing off, but speaking honestly about the grace of God in your life.
3. A Witness Lives in a Way That Backs Up the Message
Jesus said, “You are the light of the world… let your light shine before others” (Matthew 5:14-16). That means witness is not only spoken; it is seen. When Christians love well, forgive quickly, refuse compromise, and stay steady in suffering, people see something different. Your life will either strengthen your message or weaken it. A witness does not need to be flawless, but they do need to be real, repentant, and faithful.
The Call Today
To be Christ’s witness today is to know Him, trust Him, and make Him known in everyday life. It happens at home, at work, online, in conversation, and in quiet acts of obedience. The world does not need more vague religion; it needs believers who are not ashamed of the gospel (Romans 1:16), who are ready to “give an answer” for their hope (1 Peter 3:15), and who live like Jesus is truly Lord. This is the calling: speak the truth, live the truth, and point people to Christ.
The world does not need louder Christians; it needs truer witnesses.
