“Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them.” (Prov. 4:5)
“Get wisdom, get understanding” is more than a nice Bible phrase. In simple words, it means we need to learn God’s way, understand how He works, and allow that understanding to shape what we believe, how we live, and what we speak.
For me, understanding what it means to walk by faith toward destiny has become a sacred part of my prophetic journey. I have learned that destiny is not only hearing what God has spoken, but being shaped into a vessel strong enough, humble enough, and faithful enough to carry what He has placed within me.
In God’s Kingdom, consistency matters. We cannot be up one day, down the next, full of faith today, and full of doubt tomorrow, and still expect to walk in everything God has promised. Anything meaningful requires consistency, and spiritual growth is no different. To stay consistent, we have to grow and mature spiritually. We have to remain in God’s will, stay sensitive to His voice, and keep choosing faith even when the process feels slow.
There is also a connection between hearing and speaking. What we hear from God must be received, believed, and settled in our hearts. Then, we learn to speak from that place of faith. We do not speak fear. We do not speak confusion. We do not speak every feeling that passes through our minds. We learn to speak what God has said, even before we see the full result.
James reminds us that if we lack wisdom, we can ask God, and He gives generously. That means we do not have to pretend we know everything. We can come to God honestly and say, “Lord, teach me. Help me understand. Show me how to walk this out.” Wisdom is not just information. Wisdom is knowing how to apply spiritual truth in real life.
The foundation of New Testament faith is built on grace, truth, and the promises of God. In the Old Testament, people often related to God through strict obedience to the law. But in Christ, we receive by faith through grace. Romans 4 shows us the kind of faith Abraham had. He believed God’s promise even when things looked impossible. He did not stagger in unbelief. He grew strong in faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God was able to do what He had promised.
That is a powerful lesson for us. Our part is not to waver in unbelief. Our part is to receive what God has spoken, believe it in our hearts, and hold fast to our confession of faith. We speak the truth of God’s promise, not because we are trying to force something to happen, but because we trust that God is faithful. We call things according to what God has said, and we thank Him for the results even while we are still walking through the process.
So if you are believing God for destiny, growth, healing, direction, or breakthrough, do not be wishy-washy with your faith. Ask God for wisdom. Get understanding. Build your foundation on spiritual truth. Stay consistent. Keep hearing. Keep believing. Keep speaking what God has placed in your heart.
The journey toward destiny is not always easy. It calls for discipline, maturity, patience, obedience, and words filled with faith. As you begin to understand what God is teaching you and speak from a heart that trusts Him, confidence rises within you. God is faithful to fulfill what He has promised; our part is to believe, remain steadfast, and continue speaking in agreement with His truth. That does not mean we always get it right, but it does mean we keep pressing forward in faith.
