The People Who Know Their God

An open book sits before a path of light leading toward a brilliant sunrise beneath a dramatic, cloud-filled sky.

One of the most fascinating and endearing things in life is getting to know God—not just knowing about Him, but knowing Him in the Spirit. There is a big difference between hearing facts about someone and walking closely with that person. In the same way, faith becomes deeper and sweeter when God is no longer only a subject we discuss, but a living presence we trust, love, and follow.

There are people who can explain religion very well, quote Scripture, and speak the right spiritual language, yet still feel distant from God in daily life. But the people who truly know their God carry something different. They may not always have perfect words, but they have a quiet confidence. They have learned, through prayer, worship, surrender, and life’s ups and downs, that God is real, near, faithful, and good.

Knowing God Changes What Matters Most

When we begin to know God in the Spirit, life does not suddenly become free of pain, disappointment, or loss. We still face hard days. We still have questions. We still feel the weight of things that did not work out the way we hoped. But knowing God gives those things a new place. They no longer sit on the throne of our hearts.

The apostle Paul said that everything he once counted as gain became loss compared with the surpassing worth of knowing Christ. In simple words, Paul found something so valuable in Jesus that even his greatest achievements and deepest losses could not compare. He was not pretending pain did not exist. He was saying that Christ had become greater than it all.

Knowing God Is Personal

To know God is not merely to belong to a church, repeat a testimony, or say the expected words. It is to recognize His voice in your life. It is to sense His correction when you are drifting, His comfort when you are hurting, His peace when everything around you feels unsettled, and His joy when you remember that you are loved.

This kind of knowing grows slowly and honestly. It grows when we read the Word with open hearts. It grows when we pray without pretending. It grows when we obey God even when it costs us. It grows when we stop measuring our lives only by success, recognition, comfort, or approval, and start asking, “Lord, am I walking with You?”

The Spirit Makes God Near

God has not called us into a cold or distant relationship. Through the Holy Spirit, He makes Himself known in the deep places of the heart. The Spirit teaches us, reminds us of truth, strengthens us when we are weak, and helps us love God more than we could on our own.

That is why knowing God is one of the most beautiful parts of life. It turns ordinary moments into holy ones. A quiet morning can become a meeting place with God. A difficult season can become a classroom of grace. A disappointment can become a doorway into deeper trust. Even tears can become prayers when the Spirit is present.

The People Who Know Their God

The people who know their God are not necessarily the loudest, richest, most admired, or most religious-looking people. They are the ones who have discovered that God Himself is the treasure. They can lose things and still have hope. They can be misunderstood and still have peace. They can face trouble and still say, “God is with me, and He is enough.”

Knowing God does not make us proud; it makes us humble. It does not make us careless about life; it helps us see life clearly. It does not remove every burden; it gives us Someone strong enough to carry us through.

A Simple Prayer

Lord, I do not want to only know about You. I want to know You in the Spirit. Teach me to walk with You, trust You, listen to You, and love You more deeply. Let my life be shaped by Your presence, and let everything else find its proper place beneath the joy of knowing You. Amen.
