“But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away.” ( 2 Cor. 3:14)
There is a strong spirit of deception in the world today. What makes it even more serious is that it is not only outside the church. It is also showing up among people who say they know God.
Many people seem to have lost their fear of the Lord, their love for His Word, and their desire to obey Him. They can hear the truth and still reject it. They can read the Bible and still twist it to fit what they want. They can sit under preaching and still refuse to change.
That is spiritual blindness. It is like a veil covering the eyes, heart, and mind. A person may be looking, but not really seeing. They may be listening, but not truly receiving. They may have religion on the outside, but their heart is still far from God.
The apostle Paul talked about this in 2 Corinthians 3. He said that a veil can cover the heart and keep people from understanding God’s truth clearly. But he also gave the answer: when a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. In simple words, only Jesus can open blind eyes, soften hard hearts, and help us see the truth for what it really is.
This is why we must be careful. Jesus warned that deception would be so strong that many would be led the wrong way. Paul also warned that some people would have the appearance of godliness but deny the power of God. In other words, a person can look religious, talk religious, and still not be surrendered to God in the heart.
We cannot decide what is true by our feelings, by what is popular, by church traditions, by personal opinions, or by what the world accepts. We must measure everything by the Word of God. If God calls something sin, we should not rename it. If God calls us to repent, we should not make excuses. If God calls us to live holy, we should not settle for a comfortable Christianity that costs us nothing.
The dangerous thing about deception is that the deceived person often does not know they are deceived. That is why we need to ask God to search our hearts. We need to pray, “Lord, remove anything in me that keeps me from seeing You clearly. Take the veil off my eyes. Give me a heart that loves truth more than comfort, correction more than pride, and obedience more than appearance.”
This is not the time to play with God. This is not the time to follow every voice, every trend, or every message that only sounds spiritual. This is the time to return to Christ. Return to prayer. Return to the Bible. Return to repentance. Return to holy living.
The good news is that the veil can be removed. Hearts can be opened. Minds can be renewed. Lives can be changed. But it happens when we stop resisting the truth and turn to the Lord with humility and faith.
Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And that freedom begins when we surrender fully to Jesus Christ.
May God remove every veil, expose every lie, wake up every sleeping heart, and bring His people back to the truth of His Word.
