Discover why Jesus Christ, the Alpha and the Omega, is our only secure way forward and the true anchor for faith, hope, and the future of the church.
When the Bible calls the Lord Jesus Christ “the Alpha and the Omega,” it is saying something simple but life-changing: Jesus is the beginning, the end, and everything in between. Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet, and Omega is the last. In plain words, Jesus is not just part of the story—He is the whole story.
Many people today are searching for a way forward. Some look to politics. Some look to culture. Some look to money, education, personality, programs, or human wisdom. But none of these can carry the full weight of our future. They may have their place, but they cannot be our foundation. Jesus Christ is the third way—and truly the only way—because He alone is strong enough to hold us, guide us, and bring us safely through what is ahead.
If the church does not reorient itself around Christ, even the steps that look progressive may actually take us backward. We can become busy with many religious things and still lose the living center of our faith. We can talk about church growth, worship styles, leadership, justice, morality, tradition, and mission, yet forget that all of it must flow from the person of Jesus Christ.
What we need is not merely more activity, more arguments, or more religious language. We need the reality and experience of the indwelling Lord. Christ is not meant to be admired from a distance. He lives within His people by His Spirit. Yet this living experience of Christ has been almost lost in much of the Christian faith. Many know about Jesus, but fewer know Him as the One who dwells within, leads from within, and transforms from within.
The Lord Jesus Christ is far greater than most of us have ever imagined. His beauty, greatness, wisdom, mercy, authority, and splendor are deeper than our words can fully express. He is not small, narrow, or secondary. He is the One through whom all things hold together. Without Him, even the good things in life become like loose pieces floating in space. With Him, everything finds its place, purpose, and meaning.
The holy Scriptures are our road map and compass, but their goal is not merely to give us information. They point us to a Person. From beginning to end, Scripture leads us to Jesus in all His riches and depths. He is the Alpha and the Omega, “the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End” (Revelation 22:13). He is not one topic among many. He is the center that gives every truth its proper meaning.
Hebrews 6:18-20 gives us a powerful picture of this hope. It says that God’s promise and God’s oath cannot change, and because God cannot lie, believers have strong encouragement to hold firmly to the hope set before them. That hope is described as “an anchor for the soul.” In everyday terms, life can feel like a ship tossed by waves. Circumstances shift. People disappoint. Fear rises. The future can feel uncertain. But Christ is the anchor that keeps the soul steady.
This anchor does not rest in our feelings, our performance, or our ability to control life. It rests in the finished work, living presence, and eternal priesthood of Jesus Christ. He has gone before us. He holds the future. He brings us into the presence of God. That means Christian hope is not wishful thinking. It is confidence rooted in who Christ is and what He has done.
So the call before the church is clear: return to Christ. Make Him the center again. Not just in sermons, songs, statements, or traditions, but in actual life. Let our worship be Christ-centered. Let our teaching reveal Christ. Let our service flow from Christ. Let our hope rest in Christ. Let our future be shaped by Christ.
If Jesus is truly the Alpha and the Omega, then He must be more than our belief on paper. He must become our living center. He is the beginning of our faith, the goal of our journey, and the secure path into the future. Without Him, we drift. With Him, we are anchored. Without Him, we move backward. With Him, we move forward in life, hope, and truth.
