One of my favorite scriptures is Jeremiah 33:3: “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” This verse is simple, but it is full of life. God is not hiding from us. He is inviting us to come close, to call on Him, and to listen for His answer.
God Wants to Speak to Us
Jeremiah received this word during a hard season. He was shut up in the court of the guard, and Jerusalem was in trouble. Yet God still spoke. That reminds us that God can speak in difficult places. He can speak when we feel stuck, uncertain, or surrounded by pressure.
When God says, “Call to me,” He is giving us an invitation. Prayer is not only a duty. Prayer is a doorway. When we call, He answers. His answer may come through His Word, through peace in our hearts, through wise counsel, or through the quiet leading of the Holy Spirit.
Great and Unsearchable Things
God wants to impart so many things to us. Jeremiah 33:3 says He will tell us “great and unsearchable things.” These are things we cannot discover by human wisdom alone. They are things God reveals by His Spirit.
First Corinthians 2:9-10 says, “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” are the things God has prepared for those who love Him, and that God reveals them to us by His Spirit. This means God is willing to show us what is beyond our natural understanding.
His purpose is not just to give us information. His purpose is to bring transformation. God speaks to effect change in our lives. He gives wisdom so we can walk in new ways. He gives revelation so our hearts can become more like His.
Nothing Less Than His Abiding Presence
Let us be satisfied with nothing less than God’s abiding presence. Jesus said in John 15:4, “Remain in me, as I also remain in you.” To abide means to stay, to dwell, and to live connected to Him. We are not called to visit God only in emergencies. We are called to remain in Him every day.
Psalm 16:11 says that in God’s presence there is fullness of joy. Exodus 33:15 shows Moses saying, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.” Moses understood something we must also understand: blessing without God’s presence is not enough. Success without God’s presence is not enough. Activity without God’s presence is not enough.
God does not only want to visit us. He wants to dwell with us. He wants His presence to shape our thoughts, our choices, our words, and our relationships.
Equity in the Spirit
Equity in the Spirit means allowing God to bring His right order into our hearts. It means we let Him adjust what is uneven, heal what is broken, and align what is out of place. God’s Spirit brings justice, truth, balance, and righteousness from the inside out.
Isaiah 11:2-4 speaks of the Spirit of the Lord resting with wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord. It says He will judge with righteousness and decide with justice. This shows us that the Spirit of God does not lead us into confusion. He leads us into the heart and order of God.
When we call on God, He may reveal places where we need change. He may show us where pride has been ruling, where fear has been speaking, or where our priorities have become unbalanced. This is not to shame us. It is to restore us. God’s correction is part of His love.
Steward the Word
When God gives us a word, we must steward it. To steward the word means we value it, guard it, pray over it, obey it, and allow it to grow in us. God’s Word is not just something to hear. It is something to live.
Luke 8:15 says that the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop. This is stewardship. We do not let the word fall away. We hold it, meditate on it, and walk it out with patience.
James 1:22 says, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” Revelation requires response. If God shows us something unsearchable, we should not treat it lightly. We should ask, “Lord, how do You want me to live this out?”
A Simple Prayer
Father, I call to You today. Answer me according to Your wisdom and love. Show me the great and unsearchable things I do not know. Let Your abiding presence be enough for me. Bring equity in my spirit. Align my heart with Your heart. Teach me to steward Your Word with faith, obedience, and patience. Change me from the inside out. In Jesus’ name, amen.
