You cannot truly know God’s heart or understand His love for humanity if you do not seek Him or spend time in His Word.
God is not hiding from us. He wants to be known. But we cannot learn His ways from a distance. We learn His heart by drawing near to Him, praying, listening, and reading His Word.
The Bible says, “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13). Jesus also said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7). God responds to hearts that truly desire Him.
Knowing God takes more than a quick thought or a Sunday moment. It takes time, hunger, and a willing heart. Deuteronomy 4:29 says, “You will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul.”
God’s Word shows us who He is. It shows us His love, His mercy, His patience, His justice, and His desire to save humanity. John 3:16 reminds us that God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son. Romans 5:8 says, “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
If we do not spend time in Scripture, we may create our own idea of who God is instead of knowing who He has revealed Himself to be. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Second Timothy 3:16 says that all Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, correction, and training in righteousness.
Jesus said, “Abide in Me, and I in you” (John 15:4). To abide means to stay close. We cannot know someone deeply if we never spend time with them. It is the same with God. The more time we spend with Him, the more we begin to understand His heart.
God loves people. He cares about the lost, the broken, the hurting, the poor, the rejected, and the forgotten. First John 4:8 says, “God is love.” Second Peter 3:9 says the Lord is patient, not wanting anyone to perish, but wanting everyone to come to repentance.
If we want to carry His heart, we must first sit with Him and let His Word shape us. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to trust in the Lord with all our heart and acknowledge Him in all our ways, and He will direct our paths.
So seek Him daily. Open your Bible. Pray with a sincere heart. Ask Him to show you who He is. The more you seek Him, the more you will know His love—not just for yourself, but for all humanity.
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8). “Taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8). “The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy” (Psalm 145:8).
