Jesus said that anyone who hears His words and obeys them is like a wise person who built a house on the rock. That house may face rain, wind, and storms, but it will not fall because its foundation is strong.
In the same way, our lives need the right foundation. The only foundation that can truly hold us is Jesus Christ. Paul said that no one can lay any foundation other than Jesus. When our faith is built on Him, we can stand firm even when life is difficult.
The children of Israel saw God do many miracles. He gave them manna from heaven, water from the rock, and protection in the wilderness. They saw what God did, but many of them still struggled to trust Him. Moses was different. He wanted to know God’s ways and understand God’s heart.
God does not want us only to see His blessings. He wants us to know Him, trust Him, and obey His Word. A strong life is not built on feelings, fear, pride, money, or people’s opinions. A strong life is built on Jesus.
How to Build on the Rock
- Listen to God’s Word.
- Believe what God says.
- Obey Him each day.
- Trust Him when you do not understand.
- Let Jesus guide your choices, attitude, and actions.
Building on the rock does not mean storms will never come. It means that when storms come, your life will not fall apart because your faith is rooted in Christ.
Knowing God’s Ways
God’s acts show what He does. God’s ways show who He is. When we know God’s ways, we learn that He is faithful, holy, patient, merciful, just, loving, and true. We begin to trust Him not only for what He gives, but for who He is.
How to Apply This Daily
- Start the day with God’s Word.
- Ask, “Lord, what are You teaching me today?”
- Forgive instead of holding bitterness.
- Tell the truth even when it is hard.
- Pray before making decisions.
- Choose patience instead of anger.
- Help someone in need.
- Trust God with your family, money, health, and future.
In simple words, building on the rock means hearing God, trusting God, and obeying God every day. Jesus is the foundation that will never fail.
Prayer
Lord, help me to build my life on Jesus, the solid Rock. Teach me to trust You when life is hard. Help me to know Your ways, not just Your works. Give me a heart that listens, believes, and obeys. Strengthen my faith day by day, and help me stand firm through every storm. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
