“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)
Today, take the focus off of yourself and put your focus back on God. It is easy to become weighed down by our own needs, worries, plans, and problems. But Jesus teaches us to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. When we put God first, He knows how to take care of everything else.
God has called each of us to carry His light into the places where He has planted us. Your home, your job, your family, your friendships, your church, and your community are all places of influence. You do not have to wait for a platform to be used by God. You can bring the Kingdom of Heaven right where you are.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” (Matthew 5:14)
God wants to use you to tell of His goodness, His mercy, His forgiveness, and His love. He wants to show His power through ordinary people who are willing to obey Him in everyday moments. A kind word, a prayer, an act of forgiveness, a moment of patience, or a testimony of God’s faithfulness can open the door for someone else to experience His love.
“Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples.” (Psalm 96:3)
Do not underestimate the people God places in your path each day. Some are hurting. Some are searching. Some need encouragement. Some need to know that God still forgives, still heals, still restores, and still loves. You may be the person God uses to remind them that He is near.
“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us.” (2 Corinthians 5:20)
When we focus only on ourselves, we can become discouraged, distracted, or fearful. But when we focus on the Kingdom, our lives begin to carry purpose. We begin to ask, “Lord, who can I encourage today? Who can I pray for? Where can I show Your love? How can I represent You well?”
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” (Colossians 3:23)
Embrace what God has called you to do. Your assignment may not look like someone else’s, but it matters. Your obedience matters. Your faithfulness matters. Your witness matters. The Kingdom of God often moves through simple acts of love done in Jesus’ name.
“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
So today, take your eyes off of fear, comparison, and self-focus. Lift your eyes to Jesus. Seek His Kingdom. Walk in His righteousness. Let His goodness be seen through you. Let His mercy flow through you. Let His forgiveness be offered through you. Let His love be felt through you. And let His power be revealed through your life.
Word for today: God wants to use you right where you are. Seek His Kingdom first, embrace your calling, and bring Heaven’s love to the people He places in your path.
