God Is Our Stability
Stability means firmness, steadiness, and strength that does not fail. Isaiah reminds us that God is our sure foundation and our saving strength. When life feels uncertain, we do not have to build our hope on news, money, leaders, or human plans. We can build our lives on the Lord.
These are unstable times. Wars, political instability, human suffering, fear, and sudden change can make people feel unsafe. Yet God is still speaking. Kingdoms may shake, but His Kingdom will never be shaken.
An Unshakable Kingdom
Hebrews 12:25–29 tells us to listen when God speaks. Created things can be shaken and removed, but God is giving us a Kingdom that cannot be shaken. Because of this, we can be thankful and serve Him with reverence and awe. Our God is holy, powerful, and worthy of our full trust.
Shaking reveals what is temporary and what is eternal. We do not need to live in fear. We can strengthen our faith by drawing near to God, obeying His Word, and remembering that His rule will never end.
Build Your Life on the Rock
In Matthew 7:24–27, Jesus describes two builders. The wise builder hears His words and puts them into practice. That person is like someone who builds a house on rock. Storms come, but the house remains standing. The foolish builder hears the words of Jesus but does not obey them. That life is like a house built on sand, and it falls when the storm comes.
Seeking God must be the foundation of our lives. A weak foundation will eventually crack, sink, or collapse. A strong foundation gives strength to everything built upon it. We build on Christ when we listen to His teaching, trust Him, and obey Him each day.
Christ Is the Cornerstone
Ephesians 2:19–22 says that believers are no longer strangers. We are members of God’s household. This spiritual house is built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Jesus Christ Himself as the Chief Cornerstone. In Him, we are being joined together as a holy dwelling for God by the Spirit.
God chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4). He knew us before the seas and mountains were formed. Each life has meaning and a God-given purpose. Our assignments may be different, but in Christ we fit together in His plan.
Three Truths to Remember
- God is building His household. We are “being built together” as God’s dwelling by the Spirit (Ephesians 2:22). This is His work, not merely a human project. Our part is to cooperate with Him.
- God has given His people a solid foundation. The Church is built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets (Ephesians 2:20). God also gives leaders to equip His people for service and to build up the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11–12).
- Jesus is the Chief Cornerstone. He holds everything together. Believers are “living stones” being formed into a spiritual house that offers worship acceptable to God through Jesus Christ (1 Peter 2:5).
Stand Firm and Listen
The Church is unlike any human organization. Though believers have faced failures and hard seasons, God continues to change lives, perform mighty works, and use His people around the world. Our strength flows from Christ, and together we belong to Him (Romans 12:5).
Jesus said, “Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches” (Revelation 2:7). This is a time to listen, return to God, and stand firm. The world may shake, but the person who trusts Christ is standing on a sure foundation.
Prayer: Lord, be the sure foundation for our times. Fill us with Your salvation, wisdom, and knowledge. Teach us to honor You, hear Your voice, and obey Your Word. Build our lives on Christ, the solid Rock, and help us serve You with gratitude, reverence, and faith. Amen.
