A Short Devotional: Faith for Every Day

Key Scripture: “The just shall live by faith” (Romans 1:17).

Devotional Thought: Faith is not only for church, hard seasons, or big decisions. Faith is for ordinary days too. God cares about every part of our lives. He cares about heaven and earth, the soul and the body, eternal things and daily needs.

Jesus taught us to pray, “Thy kingdom come,” and He also taught us to ask, “Give us this day our daily bread” (Matthew 6:10-11). This reminds us that God wants us to trust Him for both spiritual strength and everyday provision. We do not have to separate sacred things from ordinary things. All of life belongs to God.

Nothing is too small to bring before Him. Your work, your family, your schedule, your worries, your meals, your money, and your health all matter to God. His Word says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart” and “in all your ways acknowledge him” (Proverbs 3:5-6). Faith means inviting God into all our ways, not just some of them.

God calls us to bring every part of life to Him. “Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks” (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18). This does not mean we must always be on our knees. It means our hearts can stay open to God all day. We can pray while we work, thank Him while we eat, ask for wisdom before we speak, and look to Him when we feel weak.

Everyday faith says, “Lord, I need You in this moment.” It trusts God in the large matters and the small ones. It believes that no concern is hidden from Him and no burden is too ordinary for His care. “Cast all your care upon him; for he careth for you” (1 Peter 5:7).

So let us have a present faith, a home faith, a work faith, a table faith, and a trial faith. Let us believe God for time as well as eternity, for earth as well as heaven, for the body as well as the soul. Today, and every day, we can walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).
