Faith is not only for church services, hard times, or big decisions. Faith is for every day living. God is one, and His ways are one. The God who cares about heaven also cares about earth. The God who saves our souls also cares about our bodies, our work, our homes, our meals, and our daily needs.
Jesus taught us to pray, “Thy kingdom come,” and in the same prayer He taught us to ask, “Give us this day our daily bread” (Matthew 6:10-11). This shows us that God’s kingdom and our daily needs belong together. We should trust God for eternal life, but we should also trust Him for today’s bread, today’s strength, and today’s decisions.
Sometimes people think some things are “spiritual” and other things are just “ordinary.” But with God, nothing is too small. He cares about our prayers, our families, our jobs, our money, our health, our responsibilities, and even the quiet worries we carry. Scripture says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart” and “in all your ways acknowledge him” (Proverbs 3:5-6). All our ways means all our ways.
Faith is not like a special coat we wear only on important days. Faith is more like everyday clothing. We need it when we wake up, when we work, when we speak, when we plan, when we wait, and when we face trouble. The Bible says, “The just shall live by faith” (Romans 1:17). That means faith is not only something we talk about. It is the way we live.
God calls us to bring every part of life to Him. “Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks” (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18). This does not mean we must always be on our knees. It means our hearts can stay open to God all day. We can pray while we work, thank Him while we eat, ask for wisdom before we speak, and look to Him when we feel weak.
Everyday faith says, “Lord, I need You in this moment.” It trusts God in the large matters and the small ones. It believes that no concern is hidden from Him and no burden is too ordinary for His care. “Cast all your care upon him; for he careth for you” (1 Peter 5:7).
So let us have a present faith, a home faith, a work faith, a table faith, and a trial faith. Let us believe God for time as well as eternity, for earth as well as heaven, for the body as well as the soul. Today, and every day, we can walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).
