Soaring Higher: Humanity’s Deep Longing for God

Personal Reflections on the Eagle’s Yearning and the Bridge to Divine Intimacy

A Deep Longing for God

Sometimes, even when life is going well, I feel that something is missing. A busy day, a new success, or a happy moment may lift my spirits, but a quiet longing remains. Deep inside, I want to know God and feel close to Him.

This longing becomes clearer when I slow down. In the silence, I begin to see that I want more than answers or a better life. I want a living relationship with the God who made me.

Like an Eagle Made to Soar

When I picture an eagle, I think of wide wings and an open sky. An eagle belongs in the air, not trapped on the ground. That picture helps me understand my own longing for God.

I do not want faith to be only a habit or a list of things to do. I want to pray honestly, trust God, and welcome Him into my daily life. Sometimes, in a quiet moment of prayer, I feel a little of that freedom—like an eagle beginning to rise.

When It Is Hard to Rise

Yet feeling close to God is not always easy. My mind wanders when I pray. Doubts creep in. Some days, I say the words but feel little comfort. At other times, memories of my mistakes leave me ashamed.

I long to rise above these struggles, but I often feel stuck. I am learning to bring even this frustration to God. I can tell Him when I am tired, distracted, or unsure. My prayers do not have to sound perfect to be honest.

The Distance I Cannot Close Alone

When I think about God’s holiness, I also see my own faults. I have made wrong choices, hurt others, and failed to do what I knew was right. These things affect my relationship with Him.

Trying harder cannot undo the past. My need is deeper than becoming a better version of myself. I need forgiveness. I need God to help me cross a gap I cannot cross alone.

The Gift of a Royal Pardon

I imagine someone who has broken the law asking to stand before a queen. Wanting to meet her does not erase the wrong that was done. That person needs a pardon—a gift of forgiveness that only the queen can give.

This picture helps me understand grace. I cannot earn my way into God’s presence. I can admit my wrongs and ask for His mercy. Forgiveness is not a prize for being good enough. It is a gift I need to receive.

Jesus Is the Bridge

This is where I find hope in Jesus. He came not only to teach us how to live, but to save us and bring us back to God. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He offers forgiveness and a restored relationship with our Creator.

I picture Jesus as a bridge across the distance I could never cross by myself. The way to God does not depend on my strength or on getting everything right. It rests on His love and grace. Through Him, I am welcomed as a beloved child.

Stretching My Wings Again

My journey with God still has difficult days. Sometimes prayer feels dry, and sometimes I stumble over the same old fears. But I do not have to face these struggles alone or wait until I am perfect before turning to Him.

Today, stretching my wings may mean saying a simple prayer, admitting a wrong, or taking a quiet moment to trust Him. These are not ways to earn His love. They are ways to respond to the love He offers.

The longing in my heart is an invitation to come loser. Because of Jesus, the way is open. So I will keep turning toward God, receiving His grace, and learning to soar.
