Sometimes it takes a shaking to wake us up. I believe the present shaking is not just something to fear—it may be God’s mercy calling Christ’s church back to what matters most. We have been distracted by comfort, opinions, programs, personalities, and the noise of the world. But Jesus did not call His church to build around trends. He called us to repent, believe the gospel, carry the cross, love one another, and make disciples.
Hebrews 12:26-28 reminds us that God allows shaking so that what cannot be shaken will remain. That means anything built on pride, performance, fear, politics, or popularity will not last. Only the kingdom of God will stand. This is a loving warning to the church: return to Jesus, return to holiness, return to prayer, return to truth, and return to the simple power of the gospel.
The gospel is not complicated: Christ died for our sins, He was buried, and He rose again on the third day, just as Scripture says (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Jesus preached, “Repent and believe in the gospel” (Mark 1:15). That is still the message. Not self-help. Not church-as-usual. Not a watered-down faith that costs us nothing. The church must come back to the cross, back to repentance, and back to the life-changing truth that salvation is found in Jesus alone (John 14:6; Acts 4:12).
The Bible says judgment begins with the household of God (1 Peter 4:17). That does not mean God has stopped loving His people. It means He loves His people too much to let us sleep through the hour we are living in. He is calling His church to wake up, throw off sin, and run back to Jesus (Romans 13:11-12; Hebrews 12:1-2).
If this shaking brings us to our knees, then it is not the end of the church—it may be the beginning of revival. If it strips away what is fake and brings us back to what is true, then we should humble ourselves and listen. God still says, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways,” He will hear, forgive, and heal (2 Chronicles 7:14).
Lord, wake up Your church. Bring us back to the gospel. Bring us back to Jesus. Let everything that can be shaken fall away, and let what belongs to Your kingdom remain.
