So Walk in Him: Living by Faith in Christ Daily

An open book sits before a path of light leading toward a brilliant sunrise beneath a dramatic, cloud-filled sky.

“So walk in Him” — trusting the grace that saved you to carry you every day

This phrase means that the same faith that brought us to Jesus is the faith that carries us forward. We received Christ by trusting him, and we continue with him by trusting him day by day.

Scripture focus: “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6–7

When we first come to Jesus, we come by faith. We do not come because we have fixed ourselves, cleaned ourselves up, or proved that we are strong enough. We come because we believe that Jesus is able to forgive, save, and receive us. We come empty-handed, trusting his grace.

Paul says that the same way we received Christ is the way we must continue to live in him. In other words, the Christian life does not begin by faith and then continue by self-effort. We start by trusting Jesus, and we keep going by trusting Jesus.

Faith Is Not Just the Door In

Many believers understand that they are saved by faith, but then they begin to think spiritual growth depends mostly on their own strength. They try harder, promise more, and feel discouraged when they fail. But the Bible teaches that “the just shall live by faith.” Faith is not only how we enter the Christian life; faith is how we live it every day.

Jesus is not only the Savior who forgives us at the beginning. He is also the Savior who strengthens us daily. The same grace that brought us to him is the grace that keeps us in him.

Come to Jesus the Same Way Every Day

Think back to when you first trusted Christ. You may have felt guilty about your past, weak in the present, and afraid of failing in the future. But God’s Word invited you to come anyway. You believed his promise, and Jesus received you.

The same is true now. When you feel ashamed because you have sinned, come to Jesus by faith. When you feel weak, come to Jesus by faith. When you worry that you cannot stay faithful, come to Jesus by faith. Do not wait until you feel strong enough. Trust the One who is strong for you.

Rooted and Built Up in Him

Paul uses the picture of a plant and a building. A plant must have deep roots to grow strong. A building must have a firm foundation to stand. In the same way, believers must be rooted in Christ and built up in him.

This means our strength does not come from ourselves. A branch lives because it is connected to the vine. A Christian grows because he or she stays connected to Jesus. He holds us, feeds us, teaches us, corrects us, and gives us power to bear fruit.

What Faith Looks Like in Daily Life

  • When you fail: confess your sin and trust Christ’s mercy.
  • When you feel weak: ask Jesus for strength instead of pretending you are strong.
  • When you are afraid: remember that he is faithful even when you feel unsure.
  • When you face temptation: depend on his power, not your willpower alone.
  • When you grow slowly: keep trusting that God is still working in you.
  • When life is hard: hold to God’s Word and keep walking with him.

Abounding with Thanksgiving

Paul also says that believers should overflow with thanksgiving. The more we understand that Christ saves us, keeps us, and grows us by grace, the more thankful we become. Gratitude rises when we realize that Jesus has not only brought us in, but he also walks with us all the way.

Simple Takeaway

You came to Jesus by faith. Now keep walking with Jesus by faith. Do not rely on your own strength to live the Christian life. Stay rooted in Christ, trust his promises, receive his grace daily, and let thanksgiving grow in your heart.
